MIRA Safety Gas Mask Microphones are designed specifically for gas masks, and come in four varieties: the CM-6M, CM-7M, CM-8M, and Tactical Audio Connector Retention and Attenuation (TAPR).

The CM-6M

The CM-6M is the most basic of the microphone models and is designed for communication while wearing Level A and Level B type gas masks. It is designed to be easily installed, and fits most NATO-style masks. It features a mic membrane made of durable stainless steel and has a water-resistant construction to ensure durability in wet or dusty environments. The microphone also includes an adjustable gooseneck for easy manipulation.

The CM-7M

The CM-7M is similar to the CM-6M but is tailored for use with Level A and Level B gas masks. A strong point with the CM-7M is that it fits nearly all NATO-style gas masks. It also features an adjustable gooseneck, and is water-resistant like the CM-6M. In addition, it has a larger diameter membrane switch, which translates to increased performance.

The CM-8M

The CM-8M is the most advanced gas mask microphone from MIRA Safety and is designed for those who need to communicate during high-stress situations. It is specifically designed for use with Level A and Level B gas masks. It has an adjustable adapter to allow for a secure fit with most NATO-style gas masks. It features a back-electret fine element microphone, a larger diameter membrane switch, and a water-resistant construction.

Tactical Audio Connector Retention and Attenuation (TAPR)

The TAPR is a unique microphone designed for use with Level A and Level B gas masks. It attaches via a MIL-STD-6 pin connector, so it’s suitable for use with tactical headsets such as the AN/PRC-148 MBITR radio. The microphone is also water-resistant, to ensure it can stand up to wet and dusty conditions.

Final Thoughts

For those who need to communicate while wearing a gas mask, the MIRA Safety Gas Mask Microphones are an essential piece of equipment. All four models offer excellent performance and durability and are sure to be up for the challenge.
